Kindergarten Pre School
Pre-School Kindergarten
- 3 to 4 Years Old
Our 3 and 4 year old woodland environment is carefully planned to provide rich outdoor experiences, with natural resources and opportunities inspired by children’s interests that support their next steps in learning.
Children are encouraged to make independent choices as they explore the woodland surroundings, developing confidence, resilience and practical skills through play, discovery and enquiry.
The outdoor environment nurtures curiosity and imagination allowing children to learn through hands-on experiences with nature, risk-taking, problem solving and collaborative play.
Learning both indoors and outdoors, children thrive in our Kindergarten pre-school due to the richness, variety and opportunities offered throughout the environment.
Set within our enchanting woodland, our Kindergarten Pre-School has been thoughtfully designed to meet the needs of children aged 3 to 5 years as they prepare for school, and the next stage of their learning journey. We focus on supporting children to become resilient, independent, confident and happy learners through meaningful play, exploration and high quality teaching.
Children benefit from a large outdoor woodland environment
Filled with exciting opportunities for adventure, imagination and discovery.
The space includes climbing areas, a pirate ship, den-building spaces, a large mud kitchen and access to our allotment where children help to grow vegetables. These vegetables are often used during cooking activities around the fire, or fed to the animals on our on-site farm which the children can visit daily.
Our pre-school children also enjoy access to a zip wire, encouraging physical development, confidence, coordination and risk management in a safe and supportive environment.
The setting includes four beautiful purpose bulit wooden structures including our much loved Hobbit Hut, playhouse, indoor classroom and covered eating shelter. These inviting spaces allow children to learn, create, rest and socialise in all weather conditions. We also have a dedicated toilet block that children can access independently, while still being supported by adults when needed
Our Curriculum
Learning is led by our qualified teacher alongside our experienced management team, qualified Forest School Practitioners and skilled Early Years Practitioners
Ensuring high quality teaching, nurturing relationships and an ambitious curriculum that supports every child’s interests and development needs.
Children also take part in regular forest school sessions where they are encouraged to explore, investigate and learn within our natural woodland environment. Supported by our qualified Forest School Practitioners, children are introduced to using tools safely and responsibly, take part in cooking activities over the fire, enjoying bug hunts, den building, nature exploration and a wide range of hands-on outdoor activities.
Regular forest school sessions help children to develop confidence, resilience, independence and problem solving skills while encouraging teamwork, communication and creativity. Spending time outdoors in nature also supports children’s emotional wellbeing, physical development, risk management skills and curiosity about the world around them. These meaningful real life experiences provide children with endless opportunities for exploration, imagination and learning through play
